VIOLENCE IN EL SALVADOR?

Guillermo Fernando Sensente.

ESNA’s Project Director.

El Salvador is no different than the rest of the countries in the World as far as violence goes. Yes there are pockets of violence in El Salvador just as they are in Paris, London, Chicago, Oakland, Compton, Detroit, Las Vegas, just to mention a few. The biggest difference is that since El Salvador is a small country, 9 out of 10 times you hear the name ‘’El Salvador’’ is related to negative media and why? Simply because negative media sells and it does so quickly. El Salvador is a beautiful country with incredibly nice and friendly people. Yes there are a few that may not necessarily be nice, but that doesn’t mean everyone is like that. El Salvador has some of the most amazing places to see and visit and best of all, they are relatively close to each other. El Salvador has impressive lakes, plenty of volcanoes, wonderful beaches, mountains, coffee plantations, Mayan ruins and much more to offer!

We as ESNA are responsible for welcoming volunteer groups into the country and from the moment the plane lands we are with them 24/7 until they return back home! Yes it is our responsibility, but more than that, we gladly do it because we consider – and therefore – treat everyone as family. Now family is a huge thing in El Salvador, like in most Latin American countries. For that reason, it is very common to see – especially in the rural areas – up to three different generations living in the same household; family tries to hold you in as much as they can. So by seeing our visitors as family, we pretty much guarantee a safe and secure visit throughout the country. As ESNA’s In-Country team, we know exactly what places to visit and which ones to stay away from.

So don’t let advisories and the media keep you from experiencing a life-changing experience when travelling to El Salvador. Just the sole presence of visitors to El Salvador mean great hope to the people; hope for a better life and hope for a brighter future! We as ESNA are improving the standards of living for many rural families. But we cannot do this alone, we need your help. So sign up now for and outstanding experience with ESNA Village Network! We offer some of the best alternative spring break experiences along with an eye-opening experience to the real word! And we guarantee you that after visiting El Salvador, you will appreciate life more than you ever thought you would!!
